Newbie Blue Fronted Amazon.

Postby Luckymom » Sat Mar 22, 2014 1:28 pm

I recently adopted a 21 year old blue fronted Amazon named Lucky, he is completely wonderful in every way. His only downfall is sometimes he is very stubborn and refuses to step up when it's time to go into the cage I'm pretty sure I can work with that. I am just looking for advice and tips on having a blue fronted. At this point I have discovered he knows how to say hello and what. he also loves next scratches and snuggles. I would like to teach him so much more. Also wondering if its ok to have a Yucca Tree in the room with him? He will chew on it if he gets the chance.
Thanks for reading

Coincide meal time with going into cage. If in between meal times make sure he has a treat waiting. Gives him something to look forward to and he wont protest going back into cage. I am sure Micheal has some info on this site/blog regarding. Look around and pretty much everything you need to know is on this site. Better yet buy his book The Parrot Wizards Guide to Well Behaved Parrots....amazing read and covers everything.

find a bird rescue to volunteer at. there aren't really any birds for beginners if you decide to get any bird even a :budgie: is a long time commitment.
