Hamster was on parrot play gym

Hello all,

So I normally keep my parrot's play gym in a cubby in the living room when not being used. We've had a relative over for a while now who brought her pet hamster with her (which is kept far away from the parrot's cage). Apparently while I was out of the house earlier today, she found the play gym and had let her hamster play on it without my consent.

Now my question is, how should I go about sanitizing the play gym? It's one of the Penn Plax colorful wood ones, and it had all sorts of wooden toys like the shreddable kabobs hanging from it. Should I just leave it out in the sun?

I would wash it carefully and then put it in the sun. I doubt the hamster has any real bad disease but still...

Soap and water should work fine, but if you REALLY want to be meticulous, you could give it a good apple cider vinegar rinse.

I'd use the apple cider, rodents such as hamsters urinate all the time to the point where their paws are contaminated with their own urine and so everything they touch gets contaminated- I always wanted a pet rodent until I heard about this.
