If he is just climbing round and round in circles it is called route tracing in this country and is a stereotypical behaviour- its not normal and usually caused by stress. I would take all the comments above on board and see what you can do to improve things.

Right same type of behavior, different behavior, but induced by the same type stresses.

To help get him over 'fear of the dark' if that's what it is, you could leave the light on and place a thin dark coloured blanket over the cage so that some but not too much light gets through, after a few nights of that, you could then try switching the light off after placing the blanket on his cage, it might help him calm down.

As for (what I call) the 360's, it's generally due to stress or irritation or boredom, my birds have occassionaly done that when I'm in the same room as them but refuse to open their cage, or they've been in their carrier cage for a while and I haven't had a chance to stop and let them out during a journey. The 360's are usually followed by loud screams but always stop once the birds are allowed outside of their cage, maybe your bird needs more out time?
