To trim or not to trim?

Postby Eto_Josh » Sat Jun 21, 2014 4:06 pm

Hi everybody I recently acquired myself a little female :greycockatiel: whom we named Beasty. My fiancé and me were wondering if we really need to trim Beasty's nails or if giving her a variety of perches differing in size and texture enough to keep her nails in check?

If they are causing you more than minor discomfort, otherwise leave them because they are useful or the bird.

Thanks Michael!Atleast now I know she won't be falling off my shoulder when I go walking around the house with her on my shoulder.

If they get very sharp, get a safe pumice perch like this one http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... atid=15079.

It will dull the sharp ends without doing any damage to the feet because it has rough sides (where the claws would rest) but a smooth top and bottom (for the tender soles of their feet).
