Bent wing

Postby Hrmn » Fri Feb 19, 2010 9:45 am

I need some help on how to handle a bent or misplaced long wing. Esteban is really honked off. He will get it back in place for a while, but it usually ends up pointed staight out forward again. Wing is still firmly attached. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My only advice is to take your bird to a certified avian veterinarian ASAP.

Is it his wing or a flight feather? If it is truely his wing then a vet visit is in order. If it is one of his flight feathers that is the problem then again a vet visit to have it safely removed would be the best thing sense most fights are also blood feathers.

Thanks.....took Esteban to the vet, and he's fine. Pulled the feather with a hemostat. He's much happier. He'd broken the quill.

That's good that it was just a broken flight and not something worse. :)

Glad he's ok and it was just a feather and not his wing!
