I have a Jenday Conure and he frequently uses his foot to grab his head, almost looking as though embarrassed. He seems to do it at random times, but quite often. It's not any kind of problem, I'm just curious why he does it. Has anybody else seen this behavior, whether in Conures or otherwise?
Scooter sometimes does this when he wants his head scratched or petted. Like Michael's video, but he'll grab the top of his head as well. He's a green-cheeked conure.
The way I understand it is they are trying to be really cute in their futile attempt to pet themselves so that it would make you feel bad and do it for them
That is cute! They're just too smart . I bet it works every time .
Mojo will give himself a good scratch, I don't recall seeing him pet himself slow like that though. When he wants a scratch he just fluffs up all of his neck/head feathers so he looks like a big green puff ball
