What sounds like a hiccup, sorta?

Postby entrancedbymyGCC » Sun Feb 21, 2010 1:01 pm

Scooter occasionally makes a noise that sounds like a hiccup, kinda. Not as violent, but that's what it reminds me of. Yesterday after he had a whoppingly energetic bath and was a drowned rat, he made this noise incessantly until he was dry. Since I've read a ton of books and internet information, I sort of feel like every day he actually stays alive is a miracle (LOL) it worried me a bit, but he seems perfectly normal, or at least as normal as he gets, now. Any idea what this sound is? It's not his sleepy beak-grinding noise...

Is it anything like this? I've been bothered by Kili doing this for a while now. While I've heard many theories about this behavior, I still have not found conclusive evidence but it seems to be some kind of mating thing.

Someone told me it sounds like hiccups but it definitely is not. It isn't an imitation of the clicker either.

Michael, it does sound a bit like that. Not exactly, but similar. I don't think Scooter is sexually mature yet, but what do I know? Mating behavior seems like an odd thing to do when soaking wet... or maybe not....

I wonder if the bird shook on each hiccup the way Kili does when she does this? She's about a year and seven months so I'm not sure if she is even fully matured. She'll do this in the most awkward times as well. I can have her laying on her back in my hand filing her nails and she will shake in my hand every time one of these hiccup/click whatever things happens.

I didn't notice. If he does it next time he bathes enthusiastically, I'll watch for that!!
