Parrot eating WOOD !!!

Fajr chews up wood! He's a GCC so there are obviously differences, but he has a rose branch perch in my room. He strips off the bark and chews it up into small pieces. I am 99.9999% positive he doesn't eat it, as he usually does a beak-grinding thing after he eats. As an additional measure though, I try and skewer fruits onto one of the side branches so that if he is hungry, he eats those and only rips off the bark to satisfy his instincts and amuse himself.

A good alternative for wood is an old book, my Sennie Hide used to chew his feathers, now he chews the book instead, .
