Why I HATE Petco

No, forget the spelling, I know exactly what you are talking about. Of course there are those two and other parasitic infections, I did know of those two but they slipped my mind a bit. We turned the lids of those plastic storage boxes into a roof for our bunny cage so the birds cant poop in it so I'm not overly worried, we pick up poop off the floor as we go and vacuum at least once per day although these measures probably wouldn't be enough if there was any zoonotic diseases present with them living in the same room.

If you remember any others at any time then do let me know. I might actually start researching this one again.

Don'the forget the worst of all, rabies. Salmonella too
Of course neither of those apply to birds.
Rabbits can die of any little thing, but it's usually digestive or immunal. My rabbit died for reasons w we still can't find out.

At a Petco close by me, they had a sun conure stuffed in a small glass tank and was on a wire and metal perch with the rubber perch piece missing so in essence nothing but a piece of a wire to perch on. The water was grose. Seed diet of course. I was so upset that I told the manager that I will not shop there because of the way they house/treat their birds. Very upsetting. No exercise. No stimulation. A small glass tank. They have no idea who they are selling to and dont care. Could be a smoker...Very sad. Petco makes tons of money...why then do they have to sell live animals?

Last year Petco had every holiday of every nationality on the from of their store. Except they did not have Merry Christmas. I dragged the manager outside to read the front and to give him an earful. There is such a thing as being too politically correct to the point of diminishing Christians.
I told the manager I would not be back until he corrected it. He did not. I will check it this year and will increase my request and even picket the store if I have too.

It is like Obama telling the world that we a not a Christian nation.

I didn't know that he said anything like that, however there is supposed to be a separation of church and state, so as to be equally fair to other religions, and the people who adhere to them. Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion. But this is a bird site and not a religious forum and I would rather talk birds.

I got Blu from a Petco. He was terrified of any one walking around the cage. There where a bunch of budgies with him and they where surprisingly tame and would walk right p to the cage walls to look at you but not Blu. When the employee removed him from the cage you would not believe the screams of terror emanating from this tiny little bird. Looking back I feel so bad for him since he must have been absolutely terrified. But now he is so loving and calm, it breaks my heart when I see parents buying there kids parakeets and tiny little cages and no toys and only millet for food.
