Holiday troubles of adding a third bird?

Postby JaydeParrot » Tue Sep 30, 2014 9:02 am

I talked about it in another topic that I was considering buying a lonely Grey, I'm still considering it but am thinking about one particular problem -holidays.

When I go on holiday I load my Sennies into their carry case and we go away somewhere - Simple!

The trouble is, how difficult is it to do that with a third bird?

On holiday I generally treat my two birds as one - I can put them both in the same cage without worrying that they'll attack each other.

Adding another bird would pretty much be like having two bird (rather than three) as I would only have to figure out two seperate places to put them.

Was just wondering how difficult it would be to take three birds seperated into two on holiday, if anyone has had any experiance with this issue?

I don't take my birds anywhere -well, with the rare exception of Freddy maybe once or twice a year- but, as long as the bird is an adult, bonded to you and not stressed out by it, it's just a question of what is practical from your point of view.

Michael takes his, but not always ALL of them.

I think one question would be how well the birds get along. It could be painful to but stuck in a car with birds screaming at each other. But if they are not unhappy with the sight of each other, they might bond somewhat over being a familiar face in a strange place.
