Ok, please tell me how to make it or where I can find instructions on making it! :) She finally ate millet off the stick (and from my hand) today when I opened the doors of her cage. after I put her cage back up on the dresser, she climbed up onto her swing perch where she sleeps, so I turned the lights off... and then she started making a clicking sound with her beak? I've read that this is a sign of a content and happy budgie, but I've also read it's from stress- do you know which it is?

Alright you need three things from the supermarket to make an easy version of gloop. You need a box of Kashi 7 grain pilaf, a can of white beans( great northern or navy beans) and a bag of mixed vegetables from the frozen food section.
Cook the pilaf, but leave it so that the grains are a little hard still. Rinse the beans as they have salt in them and you don't need that. Now measure the pilaf in a measuring cup and add 1/4 that amount of the rinsed beans. Measure out the same amount of the mixed vegetables as the beans and pilaf together. thaw and add the vegetables to the pilaf and bean mix and you have an easy gloop.
This is new food to her so when you give her some for breakfast sprinkle some of her seed mix on it until she starts eating the gloop pretty well and then stop adding the seeds. If you put the gloop in a plastic ice cube tray, you can give one thawed cube of gloop each morning along with a fresh vegetable like romaine lettuce or a few pieces of tomato or squash it depends on what you have. And then give her the seed mix for dinner only take it out after she goes to sleep.
As to the clicking or grinding sound it is probably her happy sound.

I use more grains than beans because I figure the grains are more natural to a parrot's diet than beans (they eat grains in the wild but they don't eat beans).

I would also use lentils instead of navy or white Northern beans, this is for a budgie which has a small beak so a big Navy bean is not going to work for her.

Makes sense to me, so she should go with lentils instead of white beans.

And, if anybody is interested, I have been using black lentils (also call 'lentil caviar' or 'caviar lentils -I found them in Whole Foods). They are completely round black teeny little balls that cook nice and firm and the birds LOVE THEM!

Thank you for the recipe!! Now there's yet another problem :( I think Snow may have mites or something. I'm going to post about it on a new thread, this one's already changed topics enough. Please go see it though! I'm going to look up the symptoms and what it might be soon.
