Pajorita, thank you for the well thoughtful response. Well said regarding happiness. And, nature should be the bar as far as parrots go. I wish most people held your standards as well as amount of care for those without a voice. But, I still see it as a very realistic statistic that most people let alone parrot owners have to work. Even those who do work at home... a parrot on their shoulder can be too much of a distraction. It is for me. And, anxiety disorders are terrible because even if one comes to a realization...or new set of beliefs/understandings...the amigdala is still set to a automatic pilot. Depending on the trauma or cause of the disorder...it could take years and much work to maintain above water so to speak. If it is complex trauma based...all the more difficulty. Its not as easy as just simply exposure. Though I don't have kids..I can understand some and somewhat of difficulties since I was a live in nanny and had worked with some autistic children that have bitten, kicked and scratched me, stripped of their clothes, or try to harm themselves with sharp objects simply to provoke or button push. (you think some parrots are good at doing some stressful things to their owners to get their ways? lol) Wolf, very sorry to hear that you are in pain...you are always so helpful and generous with your advice and time on here. Have you tried swimming? It helps my back/hip arthritis and many others with phisical problems to loosen up in a non harsh way. Or medicinal marijuana? Anyway, wishing you good thoughts!
