Pandemonium of parrots

Postby Hookturn » Sat Dec 20, 2014 4:39 pm

In another thread, someone asked if a group of parrots was really called a "flock". It was not part of the topic and I can't find where it was now. Although it may have already been answered, the question intrigued me. Today at breakfast, my daughter and I looked it up. The answer we found was a "pandemonium of parrots."

I also thought that it was interesting to find a group of crows is called a "murder". And a male rabbit is a "buck". A female is a " doe". And a baby rabbit is a "kitten".

Just thought I'd share. And a very, merry Christmas to everyone!

I wonder if there is a specific term other than flock for a group of parrots and if so what it might be, for instance you don't get a flock of crows although what is what it is, you have a murder of crows, or a gaggle of geese.

Is this the one that you are referring to? Pajarita replied that such a group of parrots were referred to as a " company of parrots".
Thank you for your answer; " a pandemonium of parrots". May I ask where you found this answer, please?

Both terms, pandemonium and company, are correct. I don't like pandemonium because it actually means 'all the demons' although it's also used for loud noise.

That's where I saw it. I like the term pandemonium. It sounds like a bunch of out of control buddies having a good time.
