Do you ever feel...

Postby GreenWing » Sat Jan 03, 2015 3:26 pm

quirky, having a conversation with your parrot? Maybe it's that I have a CAG, but I have conversations with her, and living alone with such an intelligent creature, it makes you feel a little eccentric. Mostly we talk about the same stuff but she still surprises with her vocab, lol

I have always talked to my animals and always will, still having one speak back to me using human words is still new to me, but I enjoy it.

I talk to all of them. Rambo answers back and can pretty much hold up his end of a conversation if it is something he is interested in. Myrtle starts out okay but falls into her baby blabber.

The funniest thing is to answer a question asked by a bird.

Mimi is quite the talker although we can get the occasional single whistle out of her as well as a strange a-a-ah-ahhaaa sound that is her way of singing. She really loves music and us singing to her. She likes to ask " How are ya?" , " How are ya, man?" and her all time favorite question is " Did I scare you?"

"Did I scare you." I love it.

Rambo says "is that good" or "huh" when he is begging. Myrtle just says her name softly as if to say Myrtle wants another bite.

They both say "help" when they need help.

There is no use trying to teach them a word. Just like little kids they won't say it. When she lands on me I say "hey baby what's up?" She will not say the words together. Instead she will say "hey baby" or "what's up".

The funniest thing I heard Rambo say is when he was closed in a dark bathroom. He yelled "MOMMA" and I answered. Then he said "c'mere ... pick me up... RIGHT NOW".

I talk to all my animals. Corsair is the only one that talks back. She says "bless you" when someone sneezes, coughs, or blows their nose. It really startles visitors, especially since she says so little.

 I don't only talk to all my animals, if they don't answer back on their own (dogs, cat, mouse, most birds) I answer for them! My husband used to think it was crazy but now he does it, too - and my grandkids don't only love it when I do, they do it themselves as soon as they are old enough!

I woke up this morning to Fajr saying "come here! come here!" for the first time to my knowledge and tapping on his cage bars -I slept through my sunrise alarm as I had accidentally left my phone on silent. He was not happy with me.

He knows more words but just had not needed to use them yet.
Rambo amazes me with words he knows when he needs them.
