Parrot Knowledge

Postby HyperD » Thu Mar 11, 2010 6:31 am

I am just wondering where you all have your parrot knowledge?

You all seem to have good tips and tricks so where did it come from?

Was it books? Google? Other forums? Videos? Trial and error?

I only got some out of books and the internet. Some comes from just having had birds for a long time. Forums are great! I have a few different ones that I go to. I think I've gotten more help, info, tips, ideas ect from other people on forums than anywhere else. I don't always agree with everything but then who does?

All of the above plus I went out and got a job at a pet store in the parrot department and learned even more.

I've been reading voraciously and "listening" to the conversation here. My husband has a lot of bird experience, so I also pick his brain.

I am new to TPF and I wouldn't be me if I didn't jump in.

I was fortunate to have gotten invovled with one parrot rescue, which I could only attend their classes when they were in town. I met the owner of a local rescue and started attending their classes, which they have a wide array of. Down the line I started volunteering for them. They want you to succeed.

It was when my first bird became ill that I realized I didn't know squat about birds. This was something I chose too take on, so I had to step up to the plate and make sure he had the best life I could provide for him and now the rest of my flock.
