A couple cute photos:

Chillin' with my homies

She moulted a feather, but didn't quite drop it all the way. She finished the job shortly after I took this photo. :)

Akimi likes to be 'on' the internet. ;)

And a bonus photo of my dog Bruno, because he's adorable. <3

Yes, I can see there was a feather ready to be dropped... Beautiful little bird! Are you sure it's a hen? She has such a commanding presence, doesn't she?

Her previous owner said she had a vet run a DNA test, so I'm pretty certain. And yes, she thinks she's the boss most of the time.

So cute. 40 years ago if someone told me I would share love with a bird I would have thought they were crazy.

Isn't she? And she's only gotten prettier since I switched her diet - I notice a lot more different coloured highlights and iridescence in her feathers now - a few different greens ranging from olive to emerald, blues, reds, silver, and gold. In the right light, she practically glows. :D

I'd love to get another GCC to keep her company, but I think I'd one of the colour mutations just so that it's easier to tell them apart on a glance. :)

Oh, yes, a good diet does wonders for their plumage! Mine is a yellow-sided (my favorite mutation as I find the cinnamons and pineapples too pale for my taste) and she has white, cream, grey, black, yellow, orange, pink, red, maroon, four different shades of green, turquoise, teal and royal blue! I think it's amazing to find all these colors in such a small body, don't you?

An apple a day keeps the avian veterinarian away. ;)

Don't worry, this apple came from our own personal trees that don't get sprayed with anything. Also, I peeled and cut away most of it to use for a birdie kabob. She decided she wanted the whole thing and ate a bunch from the half I cut and peeled. I polished off the rest once she decided she was finished. She's been enjoying fresh broccoli, kale, carrots and apples from the garden. :D

Cute little thing, don't tell her I said little.
Just a thought, if the apples are from your own trees and are not sprayed you might let her have the peel if she wants it as it has a lot of nutrition.
