Parjarita, I laughed when I looked up the naked mole rat because my first reaction was "ew, it looks like a newborn baby!".

I think my sense of cuteness is more based on the behavior of a creature. So while bird/baby/naked molerats may not be visually appealing to me, their actions are what establish their personality and make them loveable.

This doesn't mean I love them any less. I think jellyfish are stunning, but I love my parrots a thousand times more than I love any jellyfish.

Sometimes the " uglier " they are or said to be, the more I want to take care of them. Poor skinny pigs an hairless cats !

How could anybody say that a parrot isn't adorable?

Cuteness comes in all forms. May it be from their looks, to the way they act, to any sort of simple noise they make, anything can be endearing.

This is kind of an unrelated topic but it still fits I suppose;

I read an article once on what certain aspects cause most humans to find certain animals cute. The study was done mostly with baby animals; puppies, kittens, that sort of thing. Apparently the reason why most people find animals especially adorable is their 'likeness' to a human baby. Infants have large eyes, small noses, and large heads in proportion to their bodies. To us, that underlying instinct to care for them just kicks in. Plus that small little mewling noise they make can easily resemble a child's cry. It was quite an interesting article. I wish I could find it again and share! Although I don't find babies as cute as animals, that's the overall science behind why human beings find animals adorable.

I think when it comes to birds like Greys looking angry, it has to do with their eyes... most birds have pale-coloured, piercing eyes, which seem to look especially intense. From what I've observed, the birds that most of the people I've met think of as 'cute' tend to have darker eyes - like cockatiels, cockatoos, conures, and lovebirds.

Greys dont look angry they do if they are angry same as humans.When parrots are happy it even looks like they are smiling with their beak.

I never said they looked angry. I said that they have intense eyes that might make a lot of people think they look angry. I think they have sweet, thoughtful faces. <3

I love Greys, and if if the feather dust weren't an issue, I'd love to consider getting one someday. Also, I don't think my GCC would appreciate it if I brought home a bird that is so much bigger than her and would take up so much of my attention. :lol:
