You had them both DNA tested, did they both lay eggs, or are you just assuming that both are girls because the eggs you got didnt hatch?
It probably is not my buisness but why do you want to sell rickie and vickie anyway?
If you must sell them, sell them to somebody who is happy to keeep them both together and wont separate them.

I had :swaying: :swaying: Tweetle Dee and Tweetle Dumb who came to me as a pair. It turned out that they were just best Buds. They enjoyed each other's company and were very entertaining. I had the for many years and they were a joy. They were such good friends that when Tweetle Dumb got sick and the vet could not diagnose, Tweetle Dee took care of him, comforted him and fed him. When Tweetle Dumb died Tweetle Dee mourned for a few days then came out of it. Think of it. I have been divorced 3 times. Mates come and go but a BFF is a BFF.

Hi vikkirikki and welcome to the forum.

I have read all of the posts that you made and although I wanted to answer, I could not decide where to begin, this is due to all of the questions that you asked are all a part of the same circumstance. In order to answer the one about biting I must also answer all of the other ones as they are related to the same thing. I will answer your questions in due course, but this last post, I believe to be the most important and it raises several questions in my mind that I need to ask.

Why did you buy these lovebirds in the first place? Was it because you loved them or was this a hobby in which you simply wanted to breed them for extra income? Why do you now wish to sell them?

About the eggs, how long have you allowed for them to hatch? With the number of clutches that you report, it is most likely that they are both females and if you want them as companion birds this is great and can be the beginning of a long and wonderous relationship, if you simply allow it to be. How much experience do you have with birds? Whether you want them for breeding or companionship, the question is still important.

As for the biting, there is nothing that you need to do, other than to leave the birds in peace. They are protecting their eggs as best they can. When they give up on the eggs hatching, the biting will cease and they will allow you to remove the eggs.

For this last, I am going to be brutally honest with you and I hope that you will look at it as intended and not become angry or offended. So here we go... If the only reason that you have these birds is to breed them, then by all means sell them or give them to someone that is not interested in breeding. And then do not go and get a mated pair as you do not have the experience to have it work out for either you or the birds and you will just be disappointed and throwing your hard earned money away.

If on the other hand, you really love and care for these birds and are ready to begin what can be a wonderful relationship with a loving, entertaining and intelligent non human species of lifeform them I am here for you and them and will do all that I can do to answer your each and every question to the best of my ability.

You tell me !

thankyou for your replies. I decided to introduce myself in the introduction part of the forum. I thought that might be better than separate posts. Sorry I am just learning about forums as well as about birds!
