I agree that the bird was much too young to be weaned and it is very common for them to " regress" to needing additional feedings of formula, that is if it can truly be called " regression" as opposed to their having been force weaned in the first place. At this early of an age they may not be able to get enough nourishment from their adult foods simply because they don't yet have enough beak strength to crack open the seeds to get the part that they eat or they are unable to bite the pellet hard enough to eat it. Forced weaning is not a good thing and carries with it many problems both the types that we can see the drawbacks quickly and ones that may not show up until much later. Even the parent birds in the wild continue to feed their babies for some time after they are eating adult foods on their own and so should we, but this is not what most breeders consider to be economically reasonable as most of them don't really care about the birds other than for the money that they can get from them and every little thing that better prepares the bird for life with humans costs them a little more money. Things that if they would at the very least talk to with a prospective owner might reduce their sales but would be beneficial for the bird, things such as continuing the hand feeding of the bird until it weans itself and things such as the bird needing more than seeds or pellets and that the new owner will need to teach their new bird to eat fruits and vegetables, just to mention a couple of things.

You, Superman2016, are in somewhat of a different category in that you at least had enough knowledge to be able to adjust to and meet the needs of these bird, You were not flying totally blind, so to speak, but this is not the case with so many of the people who get their first birds, They really need to be able to depend on the breeder or the pet shop where they got the bird for support in these areas and they don't often get it nor are they even informed of the possibility that the bird will need extra feedings or that it needs foods other than just seeds or pellets, they are not informed about the changes that they should expect in their bird when it reaches puberty. I am sure that either of us could easily expand on this short list, if we wanted to.

I am in agreement with what you have said and want to say thanks for adding your voice to this, but since these things weigh on my mind because I read so much about them I could not help but to get on my little soapbox and rant just a little.
