I turned the light on for the first time in a while today, and he snapped off 3 feathers today. I know inconsistency is bad, too, but I think he's better off without the full spectrums. Maybe it's just too bright.

But, did he stop plucking when he had no bright lights?

He seems to have. No feathers in the cage or on the floor. He gets plenty of light, but maybe he finds the full spectrum lights too bright or too harsh.

Well, it seems to me that, sometimes, you don't find the feathers because I've never seen Sweetpea plucking or found feathers at the bottom of the cage but he obviously plucks. Grays are molting now so, if he has really stopped plucking his feathers, he should be growing them back.

You could try a full spectrum with a higher Ktemp -say 6500- which is the one you get under cover of shade. He would still get the UV [which he is not getting now] and the high CRI which would allow him to 'see' colors more accurately.

I think these lamps were the ones you gave me a link to a while ago. Mercola, or something.

Right now I'm having a fruit fly problem. They attack the gloop bowls. I have traps everywhere. They only seem to bother Nicky's food, not the other birds' food.

I've been using the clicker when I give the birds treats. Now Nicky makes the clicker sound all the time.
