She flew to his cage and got bitten again, yesterday. It's super stressful. She hasn't learned. Have to keep her caged all the time, now, unless I take her upstairs.

I really thought covering the top would help, but she keeps flying to the front of the cage.

Yes, this type of situation is stressful both for the humans AND the parrots... Sometimes, it's not easy getting two parrots to cohabit peacefully. But I still think that you need to get them BOTH out of the cages at the same time -you might need to have two people supervising at the same time but, in my personal experience, it's the only thing that works.... maybe somebody else has a different method?

It is the only thing that has worked with mine. None of my birds are what I would call friends but they have learned by being out together to co exist. They all got to explore the other birds cages while no one was in it and now they don't pay much attention to the other cage whether there is someone there or not.

The other bird's cage is in there territory so why would they not feel the need to check it out, they want to know who is in there space and that they can relax and be safe. Well they may not think it through quite that way, but that is why I would want to do that.

I found a Hispanioloan Amazon for sale. I'm not going to buy from a breeder, and I'd never have a bird shipped, but I can't say I didn't think about driving out to get her.

Of course you did! And I wouldn't have blamed you one single bit if you had! I bet you are still reeling from Tanya's death...

I love the species, and with the dark eyes, they look like babies, forever. But I shouldn't even think of buying from a breeder, and space I take up in my life with a bird from somewhere else, is space I won't have for a bird from the rescue.

I suspect Tanya was very quiet for the species. She was the quietest Amazon I have encountered. She could crank up the noise and squawk, but she only did it at sunrise and sundown.

This Hispaniolian was hatched in March. He has some black on his upper beak, where my Tanya had an all bone-colored beak.

Is this a juvenile thing, or does it indicate sex?

Good link. The black on the beak goes away with age.
