Can you give a parrot a bowel flush. When I was blocked they gave me about 5 enimas (no idea how to spell it) before they opted for surgery.

I had a ferret in that condition. The vet put her on antibiotics. We kept after her all day giving her water so she would not dehydrate. She had so much fluid in her system that she got diarea and passed a piece of green rubber from one of the cat toys.

I seriously doubt that you could do this with a bird. Even if it is possible it would be a dangerous thing to try and so if it is possible should only be done by an experienced avian vet.

No, it's too dangerous. Avian vets don't even take their temperature anally because of the risks... But why are you asking, Liz? Is any of your birds not pooping?

Back somewhere in the thread, I mentioned that I took Tanya to the vet because she was not pooping.

I was referring to the bird that has stopped eating and not pooping. A bowel blockage is a possibility. When I was blocked no foods could pass through and some stayed in my stomach so I was not hungry. My block was caused by a surgery. I was sent home too soon after surgery and had to go back to the hospital.

Ahhh, I see. But, no, Tanya's not pooping was not caused by a blockage, it was that her organs were beginning to shut down...

Tanya had stopped eating. She was making a great show of eating, throwing her gloop all over, but if you scooped it up all back up and put it in the bowl, nothing had been consumed.

Nick seems to prefer to eat his gloop late in the day. He devours it if he gets it near sundown.

They do have their individual quirks, no doubt about that! But what does he eat early in the am? Just produce?

He will eat his pellets from the night before, or bananas, broccoli, grapes, crackers, all things he asks for by name.
