I was trying out TOPS pellets. There was a huge pile of broken pellets under my greencheek's bowl.

She likes to hold the pellet in her foot and eat it like that. The TOPS just crumble away to nothing when she bits into them. The crumbles all end up on the bottom of the cage. It looks like they may not work out for her, for this reason.

He doesn't talk often. In fact, he is quiet as a mouse most of the day. He chats a bit in the morning and at dusk, or when he is nervous. He has a huge vocabulary, and he often says appropriate things.

He will ask for a cracker. If you give him something else, he will drop it and ask again, This time emphasizing cracker. Then, sometimes, when he has the cracker, he will ask for a cracker again, and then reply to himself, "Nicky, you already HAVE a cracker!"

He also seems to string things together that I don t think he has heard. He tells Ocean that she's a good girl, but he will sometimes yell at her when she is noisy, and tell her that she is a bad girl. That's not anything he ever heard from us, or at the rescue.

Grey's are very smart as you probably have noticed. Kookooloo does the same peeeep or beep noises as Nickey, she can also speak very clearly when she wants to. Sometimes in the evening or when ever she thinks that I am the only one around she does a lot of talking that is just quiet enough that I can't actually make out the words, but can tell that they are words and she will string them together sometimes in different ways until she is satisfied with whatever she is saying. It really sounds like someone talking to themselves.

AHA!!! Another cognitive speaker! My Sophie CAG will tell the cockatoos to: "SHUT UP!" when they scream but I never tell the parrots this, I only use it for the dogs (which she also does when they bark) so, in her head, she obviously made the connection that an animal vocalizing loudly needs to be told to shut up, regardless of the species

My poor birds are having to put up with an extra-innings, rain-delayed, World Series game 7. Nick is being quiet, but I think Ocean is a Cubs fan.

I don't know where he learned this. He says it in his own voice, so it's hard to say.

What does he say? I suffer from nerve-end deafness and it's real hard for me to understand words that come out of any device. I heard a wonderful laugh first and then: "Oh, boy!" "Can I take out my dolly?" Is that what he says?

I was just reminded that a DYH who used to be at the rescue said "Can I tickle your belly?" He probably learned it from him.
