It's sooo hard to have a normal life when you have birds, isn't it? Have you considered getting a male GCC for her to bond with? But then you would have to flying birds spooking poor Nicky...

Yeah, I've thought about it. We currently have a pair at the rescue, but no others.

She might even do well with a large, male budgie. I'm just thinking of a bird near her size. And one I can ID as a male easily.

I wonder if it's a bad idea to do vet visits at this time of year? Hormones are the highest, I think. Maybe I should do this stuff in October?

I've also found tiny little ants around the cages, on the floor. I'll have to eliminate those either way, but maybe that could be a cause of both birds plucking?

Irwin looks so little in this cage, but he can fly in there, so it should be good for him.

Oh, no, he looks great in there' - the cage is PERFECT!!!! And poor little Ocean, with her naked belly! But, John, I really would not consider getting a companion of a different species for Ocean because she needs to bond so, if I were you, I would maximize the chances of her accepting him as much as possible - and, in my personal opinion, that would mean an adult male GCC.

If we have any GCC, or black capped conures, or maybe brown throated conures come in, I'll have them DNA sexed. Right now we a couple of GCC, but they're a bonded pair.
