Postby sunconuresunny00 » Sun Apr 24, 2016 12:50 pm

He is doing great I gave him my room with blinds open for natural sleep patten and started target training which he seems to be having fun with!! He's being real talkative :sun: and not so squawky!!! Doing a regimen diet with veggies and fruits for breakfast within a 30 mins after he wakes up!! Just trying to still figure out what greens to feed him!!! Thanks for all the advice will keep u updated!!

You could try the stalk portion of romaine, bok choy or red leaf lettuce and you could eat the leafy part of them. I would also give him some whole grains after his fruit and vegetables so that he has them as well for all day eating. Whole grains are usually much lower in fats than seeds and this makes them a more healthy choice than seeds all day long. Perhaps some steel cut oats, wild rice, quinoa, perhaps also some hemp seeds in the mix as well. then sprinkle some of his regular seeds on top until he starts eating the grains.

Good job!

Don't worry too much over the leafy greens. They are always the last thing they start eating (except for the cockatoos that love them). Concentrate on fruits and whole grains mixed with chopped veggies (they love corn and peas).

And be careful not to overdo it with the training sessions (2 or 3 a day for no more than 5 minutes each) because, if you do, it will backfire.

SunnyOO you are doing good. So great to hear it. Rambo was in his late 20s when he took his first bite of banana. Even though Myrtle had never been offered one before, she is such an aggressive eater that she was able to teach Rambo while adventuring into every food she had or I had.

These little guys have added so much joy to my life. I want to give them fun things to do. I found out very early that Myrtle liked plastic bottle caps. I have now had her 5 years and she is still partial to them. Fun is fun.

Okay I wandered off and lost my train of thought again.
