jut something loud that you acidently drop. One example is my husband dropping a pot in the kitchen.

Oh, yes, I see what you mean. They do get startled with 'strange' loud noises. I think it all goes back to their liking their life to be always the same - same schedule, same routine, same people, same companion birds, etc. Uniformity seems to be their choice when it comes to life, and anything that deviates from it, including loud noises that are not 'supposed' to happen, bothers them.

As a couple of others have suggested... my bird hates anything small and electronic in nature... phones, cell phones, cameras, remotes...
Remotes worst of all. I watch him closely now, but in the beginning I didn't know his intentions, and he managed to bite off most of the little push-buttons. I had to use a pen to punch stuff in. I was more careful with the next one! Ever since, I can see him eyeballing it and trying to get near it!

 I actually got a coffee table that has drawers under the top and all the way down to the floor (so the cats or birds can't hide under it) just so I could put away everything I wanted to 'save' from the parrots - they do LOVE to chew out buttons, don't they? I have to fight them off my laptop keyboard ALL THE TIME -they do know what "GET OFF THE COMPUTER!" means and they do fly off when they perch on it (I don't mind so much but my husband hates it when their poop drips all the way down the screen ) but, sometimes, they play dumb (they are real good at that, too!)

Amen!

Thank goodness my guy is not a very good criminal... when he hides behind the curtain, his tail sticks out. When he is planning his attack on an object, he telegraphs his intentions with hilarious beak-clicking and wing-shaking. When he plans on nipping me, he yells "OWWWW!"... that's my signal to give him space.

Another thing he hates... my husband! My parrot is very possessive of me... pretty sure he sees me as his hen... and he suspects my husband and I have something going on. So they have settled on a truce, over the years. No touching, no getting near. Sometimes they trade insults. Hubby will say "Shut up", bird says same. Hubby calls bird a maggot, bird returns it. I stay out of it!
