Wolf is correct on the light issue. As to the air purifier... well, personally, I think that both a purifier and a humidifier are absolutely necessary for their health. Birds have incredibly efficient respiratory systems but their efficiency has a cost to it and this is that they are also extremely delicate so they need clean air to breathe - unfortunately, human homes don't really have clean air, especially if there is no good ventilation (as in two windows in different walls open so you get a current from one to the other that would 'clean' and replenish the air in the room). Now, depending on the species and its natural habitat, they might or might not require higher humidity than what is comfortable for people, especially during the winter with the heating that dries up the moisture out of the air. I don't use a humidifier and purifier during the spring and summer because, where I live, these seasons are naturally humid so I just leave the windows open but I have a humidifier running 24/7 during the cold months and I still turn on the purifier if I have to close a window.
