Although Pajarita did not specify using the oil filled radiator type of electric space heater, I know that this is the kind that she uses and it is also the kind that I use. Not only do they not have the Teflon coating to worry about, they are also much safer if your bird were to land on it while it is in operation as they can get off of it safely before they seriously burn their feet.

Yes, the electric, oil-filled radiator-looking one is the only kind I use. I have two of them, one for the canary room which I use all winter long and a spare one in case that one breaks or if I need it for the parrot room. They are great! No fumes whatsoever, not hot to the touch, easy to use and with a nice range of temperature and relatively economical for an electric heater.
