Mating or Not?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi just getting some opinions
I have had Missy and Pixie (both peach faced lovebirds) in the same age together for about four or five months now as I am hoping to breed. Pixie is DNA male and I’m almost 100% sure Missy is a female. They are inside birds living in a very large cage with a nest box. Both seem happy healthy birds with a diet consisting of a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, seed, nuts and cuttlefish. Missy is showing nesting behaviour picking up straw and other nesting materials that I have placed around her cage and putting them between her feathers and under her wings etc. They both seem well bonded preening and feeding each other Missy is also starting to get a little bit bossy and squabbling with him. Pixie was with another Female earlier in the year who sadly passed away. When he was together with her they definitely started mating. Him climbing on her Etcetera but I have not seen this behaviour between Missy and Pixie. Pixies does follow her into the nest box at times and they disappear for a few minutes.
Do you think that there is hope these two will have chicks soon? Is there any other advice to people can give me?
Thanks
Labbie

Take the nest box away and limit things that can cause a nest. Most will not lay eggs without a nest.

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, the breeding season is over, we are going into molt now and the birds will prepare for the 'resting' season (winter).
