I can't stand daylight savings time changes. Kili hates it even more cause I had to shift my schedule to follow the time and getting fed an hour late really pissed her off and she'd scream an hour till the new time to eat.

I didn't noticed any affect on my birds... the cockatoos or macaws

I don't think mine really noticed. I had left them out slightly longer the Saturday night and since they didn't make a noise on Sunday morning until they realized we were awake, which is what they normally do, regardless of everything being pushed by an hour.
They got out for the same amount of time in the morning and got their breakfast when they went in, like usual. They might have been tired a bit more early in the evening, but that was it.

Budgies sleep
the one that's out all the time and clipped is from 10 hours total including naps in the afternoon
from 12am-6am,then 11am to around 3:30(because of location of cage)

My new one about 11 hours total..and usually sleeps for a few hours from 9am till afternoon then from 10pm to 5am it seems(i've heard some light chirping around then)

though since the house is quiet/dark(or atleast dim)and everyones asleep i can only assume they're asleep during the night...and they might be getting less sleep because they're in the computer and tv rooms

My guys dont have a set pattern, due to my own hectic life.

I might be more consistent if they seemed bothered by it, but I've had Jack nearly two years and had no issues.

Typically the birds are in bed by midnight..... sometimes jack will put himself to bed around 10, other times he won't.

And then the day starts anytime between 7 and 10... sometimes later. They aren't covered. I used to, but due to my lack of schedule, i thought it would be best not to cover them. They both nap a lot during the afternoon. Both are actually napping right now. Kiwi is asleep on the playstand and Jack is on the top of his cage. They were both very happy to get out a few hours ago when I got out of bed. Jack especially was flying around the house with enthusiasm. lol!

So their straight hours of sleep varies.

Sheldon goes to bed around 8pm and then gets up at sunrise (waking up everyone in the house XD)

Jasmine sleeps with me in my bed. I keep fresh newspaper along side the bed & during the night, she'll whine if she needs to go. I'll reach under the covers for her then hold her over the papers & we go back to sleep. I've grown up sleeping w/ a cat so I'm used to having a little thing with me. She'll either sleep in my arms or under the covers down by my feet. She'll stay in bed as long as I do.

Petey sleeps in his cage. If it's the weekend, I'll cover his cage & he'll stay quite until about 10!

I don't see changes of getting grumpy/cranky if they stay up later than normal. Petey will go into or on top of his cage when tired. Jasmine around 9 each night typically heads into the bathroom, climbs up the drawers to sit on the counter & be by herself in the dark. That's her "private alone time"...

The hyacinths chill out around 9:30... They'll stay quiet in the morning until there is bright daylight.. They're cages are HUGE & would be hard to cover, so I just keep shades drawn so the morning calls are kept at bay until 8:30.

You sleep with your bird? I would be worried to do that with mine, plus he likes to sleep hanging upside down and cannot provide that in my bed. I have cats that sleep with me that may eat him too. And, the pooping thing, I don't know, cannot see him being trained well enough to alert me that he needs to poop in the middle of the night.

Bright lights go out at 9pm every night and I cover them at 9:30pm every night. The half hour gives them time to calm down and whenever I go to cover them at 9:30 they are usually in their night night spots.

I come downstairs around 6am. I leave the blankets covering them, but Jessie always comes down and peeks under his blanket and says peekaboo. I always go and say good morning to the birds before I leave, but they stay covered until around 7:30 when my husband comes down. I think they stay relatively quiet between 6am and 7:30 because they don't wake my husband or step-son up. I know they do sleep during the day - they snooze on weekends and I get to work from home from time to time and they both take naps during the day.

We notice what time they wake up more when we are at the trailer because we're all in a smaller confined space. They usually start waking up and making a little noise around 8am.

Can't say I really notice a difference in their moods if they get less sleep.

Here in England the day/night pattern varies quite a bit... In summer it stays bright till 10pm, in winter it only stays bright until 6pm!

I am planning on covering the cage when it starts getting to bright too late but anyone noticed any quirks with variations like this?
