Nail chewing Frankie

Postby Frankie’sMommy » Thu Nov 22, 2018 11:14 pm

hello! I have a question about Nail biting! my Frankie loves to chew
on my nails and it drives me bonkers! I can’t stand human nail biters too!
How can I get him to stop this behavior? I take grate pride in how my nails look and right
now they are a total mess lol! I was wondering if bitter orange or apple would
work to detour him from doing this? If that stuff is toxic that will be so a BIGLY no.
Sorry, just had to use that lol! I just don’t know what to do to get him to quit this bad habit.
Any help would be so welcome.

No, don't use anything on them -they would not work anyway because parrots like flavors lots of us don't, like very sour, bitter and super spicy. He is doing it because he is a baby and, as all babies, they learn about textures and such by putting things in their beak. Whenever he starts, simply redirect his behavior to something else -something like a toy or sheet of paper crumpled up into a ball or a piece of fruit he particularly likes. You are feeding him soft foods, right?

Rainbow is still going to his step stool. Every morning I have to sweep up the cardboard chips. Rainbow stands there to make sure I don't take his stuff away.

Myrtle just trashes the rest of the house.
