I ordered mine online. I've gotten stuff from both fostersandsmith.com and bird.com and been pretty happy with the results, I forget which I ordered the Lixit from.

Many stores don't carry lixit in store cause they are expensive and considered high end. Don't waste your money on the plastic junk though. Be sure to buy the right sized tip that is suited for your parrot.

Obviously I'm the guy who voted for water bottle in the poll. How come more people don't use bottles? Is it because they have something against it, too lazy, too difficult, too expensive? I'm curious why there is a stronger use of water dishes. Is it cause that's how they came from the breeder so you never questioned it?

I personally like to leave a water dish in the cage so they can have a bath whenever they want. I have a water bottle on the Greys cage now and am going to get two more for the other cages soon. I think having both is a good idea. I worry about just having a water bottle alone because I've heard several stories of birds dying because they shove food in the water bottle and die of thirst before the owner realizes what has happened. I plan on buying Bird Butlers for that reason.

What size bottle do you use? I have recently been looking for one here in the UK and it doesnt seem easy to find ones specifically for birds. The only place I have seen the lixit here is out of stock :(

Piper and Shade had always kept their water clean so I never felt the urge to go bottle.

I considered it when I got Zuri and he messed up his water; moving the food on the other side higher up (since he likes to eat higher up) has proven to eliminate the dunking so again, so that solved that issue.

As I said, I've considered the bottle; I might have used it as a last resort with Zuri but I'm concerned that I will not get it sufficiently cleaned everywhere; there seems to be tighter areas that might elude my cleaning; at least with a bowl, I'm sure than when I clean it, it's thoroughly clean. So since I don't really have issues with dirty water anymore and that they can choose to take a bath if they ever want to, the water bowls will stay.

I use a dish. I feel very comfortable doing so and have no problems changing it 3-4 times a day. I prefer the dish because (in my opinion) it seems more natural for them to drink from it rather than a water bottle.

I use a dish. Have tried the water bottle but Yoshi thinks it's evil and won't go near it. I've tried showing him that it's just water and have made it seem really cool and interesting but he just doesn't trust it.

I'd love to be able to use a bottle though. Just so he can have clean drinking water when I'm not home.

i would love to usee the water bottle, simply because its on the outside of the cage and its easier to take on and off for cleaning/refilling and also the water is clean, but im actually scared that my budgie would not get water.....i am however putting my rainbow lorikeet straight onto a waterbottle when he is weened i asked the breeder and he said that he will wean him onto a bottle and a dish for me which is great.

and as for tacotaco about water bottles not being very natural. its not natural, but its not natural for rabbits rats and mice either but water bottles are used a majority of the time with them.

I forget where I heard it from, but I did hear that bottles can be a breeding ground for bacteria. I mean, if you leave the bottle out for a couple days, with the water just sitting there as they take sips at a time, it just seems gross. I give my birds fresh water in the morning and in the evening. Besides, my budgies seem to have fun dunking there heads in every once in a while!
