So please vote in the poll and let us know why you use a water bottle or a dish. Let us know why you don't use the opposite of what you use. What could convince you to switch or are you dead set on what you use? For bottle users, are there any features/alterations you wish the manufacturers would incorporate?

I use a dish for all the birds.

Michael wrote: Obviously I'm the guy who voted for water bottle in the poll. How come more people don't use bottles? Is it because they have something against it, too lazy, too difficult, too expensive? I'm curious why there is a stronger use of water dishes. Is it cause that's how they came from the breeder so you never questioned it?

Yeah I am way too lazy to switch. I clean my caique's dish probably five times a day because he loves to play in it and dunk his food and I let him drink out of the water from our water filtered faucet when he's out because he loves it. I clean my cockatiel's a couple times a day too. Dang it, why am I so lazy? :P

http://www.superparrots.com/lixit-waterer-p-620.html

i just got these, it's working out rather nice, and a much cheaper alternative to the expensive ones lixit provides. they give you the metal hookups, the spring to hold the bottle still, and the metal spout(with a rubber stopper) i just supply my own bottle, plus every thing is sanitizable in the dishwasher. change it once a week, and voila, no more changing water 3 times a day. i bought glass yoohoo bottles and they fit perfectly. good thing is, if i break a bottle, only costs about 1.75 instead of 16 bucks for a new one. :D

I might only use soap/hot water on the bottle every 2-3 days but I still put fresh water in the bottle daily. Just because dirt might not get into the bottle, doesn't mean the water doesn't have its own bit of nasties to grow in it.

I've just changed my vote as I finally got round to buying one for her...

I couldn't find any lixit ones here in the UK so I settled with a generic small animal water bottle.

I was surprised at how quickly she took to it, as soon as I held it up to her she went to investigate and quickly learnt that water comes out of it :)

I've always used a dish for my Nanday because she won't eat without dunking her food in it first. She also loves to take baths in her dish. It's funny to watch because it looks like she wouldn't be able to fit in it, but she always gets her whole body entirely soaked!

I use dishes. I would love to switch but it probably wont happen super soon. Jake used to have a bottle, but he has managed to break every single one I've ever bought. I don't know how he does it, but normally within 2 weeks of getting a new bottle it's pouring out water or there is so much food stuck in the spout that there is no real way of cleaning it properly. Since seeing the Lixit bottles on here I am going to try again with one of these for Jake.

I have my hands full with Scarlet already. I am too overwhelmed with her as it is to try and teach her how to use one. Same with the fosters. They are waaaaaaaay too wild to try it with now, but perhaps soonish it will be in the cards for them.
