Boarding

Postby JBOO46 » Sat Jul 17, 2010 9:23 am

OK, so in October I'll have to get my baby (5 year old senegal parrot Griffin) boarded for a full 20 days. Now, the good thing is that I have gotten him boarded at the same place before (it's his vet), he gets to stay in his own cage (as in I bring the one he stays in at home), and they not only love him there, but one of the girls on the staff will take him out of the cage for 2 hours a day.

However, I am a bit worried. When I have gone before, he has proved to be pretty resilient and I didn't note any change in his behavior, but the longest I've had him boarded for was 12 days, and this will be a full 20. What can I do or leave at the vet to ensure that it will be a bit less stressful for him?

Sounds like he'll be fine. Looks like you have everything figured out. It's more about reducing your worry than the parrot's really.

Yeah I'm gonna be a "worried mama" while I'm away - I'm sure I'll be calling often to see how he's doing. I miss that little guy while I'm gone
