Best Shower Perch?

Postby Bella » Thu Sep 02, 2010 6:39 am

Hi Everyone. I have a green cheek conure who loves hanging out in the shower with me (so far she can only hang out on the little soap dish). I want to get one of those suction bird shower perches but some of the reviews state that some of them lose suction and the birds fall off. Does anyone have any experience with a secure shower perch that they would recommend? Thanks!!!!!!

I have a sandy perch shower fun shower perch. It only fell off once, the first time we used it. But I guess we didnt hang it up properly. It has been on the wall for 2 months now and hasnt fallen off yet. Its used a couple of times a week.

I have a Sandy Shower Fun perch too, medium I believe. It holds my fat Amazon (appx. 480 grams) without any problems. The only time it falls is when Mojo decides the suction cups are chew toys.

I really like it and the perch can be moved so it's right next to the wall when you don't have your bird with you.

Mine isn't SandyPerch...but one of the other popular brands (sorry forgot the name and it's not on the perch itself)...I had no issues with it either...it felll off once too, after several months. But when I wet the suction cups it was fine again.

That's the danger...the suction cups seem to get hard over time and lose their stickability...I think they need to be replaced. Someone (for some other product)...suggested heating them up in hot water...that may 'revitalize' them...but I haven't tried it.

I use a soap dish for Scooter! It's one of the ones with a locking suction cup. He isn't 100% sure about showers, though.. but he sure loves his sink baths!

I have one that is see-through plastic that can go on windows or in showers and it works okay, but it's better for a window. In the shower it fogs up and gets slippery and freaks my bird out. I think I'd prefer one of those sandy perch ones.
