Mating dance ?

Zoulou has been trying to regurgitate for me for a while, and now I think he is doing the mating dance and trying to copulate with my sweater sleeve...

Here's what he does : he kind of puts his wings a little away from his body, and at the same time lowers them, almost touching the ground, which makes him look a lot bigger. He keeps his head lower than usual. In this posture, he then starts making little noises (which he never does otherwise), and moving in circles. He is always on a flat surface when he does it (my kitchen table). If I leave my hand on the table, he will proceed to get on top of my arm, and start moving on my sleeve, and towards my hand. Of course, it only takes about 1 second before I take my hand off the table.

If that is not a mating dance, I don't know what is... What do you think ?

How do I get rid of this behavior ?

Yes, that's the mating dance. Just ignore him when he does it. That's about all you can do.

Gal does the little hen-bow butt wiggle thing to me and I ignore her- I mean she still tries it, but uh...mating is one of those things a sexually mature animal is always going to try when it's in the mood, know what I mean? It will probably never go away.

I thought maybe I was doing something to trigger this, like petting him on his back (but I've heard some people say it may cause them to have sexual behaviors, but I just never knew if this were true).

Yeah, you may be right. He's only 5 1/2 months old, though. Isn't it a little premature to even start thinking about being sexually active ? I mean dogs live 8-10 years. so they start around 6 months old, but parrots like Zoulou live 20-30 years, shouldn't they start around 1-2 years old ?

So this means without a doubt he is a male, right ?

Generally speaking they do sexually mature at 1 or 2... He may be an early bloomer? I'm not sure. But yes he definitely sounds male!!!

Also, he is too young for actual sexual activities but sometimes the babies will do something similar to the mating dance. I always just think of it as practice.
