Zoulou has found his new home

Postby sidech » Sun Oct 17, 2010 7:34 pm

I wanted to let you know the outcome of our story, particularly for those who tried to help me with useful advice. It was getting too hard for me, and I had to let him go. A colleague from work, whom I trust, wanted to take him, and me and my son brought him to her house tonight.

We set up the cage, put him on top, gave him food, and let him be for a while. At first (five two minutes), he didn't want to come out of his carrier, then he let me pick him up and I gave him to his new mom. He was fine, and then we put him on his cage to let him eat (he had been in his carrier for an hour). He ate all his heart. My son tried to pick him up, but Zoulou was a bit uneasy and bit him. He also bit his new mom (not too hard). But she will be patient, she didn't mind. She knows he needs time to settle down. I showed her all his stuff, toys, talked about his routine, what he needed. Then I showed her who to give him a bath, we talked a little bit, and we left.

Now, I'm all empty and saddened. But I know it's best for me, and that he'll have a great life with his new mom. No more parrots for me. This is so sad. Why are people who love animals so much allergic, and others, who don't give a s*** are not ? Life's not always fair.

I will give the new mom this address, I've talked to her about it, and I hope she will come here to learn.

Bless you all.

I know this was a tough decision and very difficult for you emotionally but you did the right thing by finding him a good, loving home where you know he'll be taken care of... and maybe you can even visit once in a while.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you can make it through okay. At least you will be able to know how he is doing.

Thanks everyone. I got some news this morning, he was just fine last night, just being his silly self, dropping on the floor and everything.

Oh, and he hates her roommate. Poor guy just can't get close to the cage without being scared of a bite ! But Zoulou seems to like his new mom, which is good !

I feel a bit better, but still miss him.

Well I'm happy everything worked out and he got a new good home with someone you know (and therefore should still be able to get a decent amount of updates :) )

I'm sorry it came to this, but it sounds like you found him a great home. I can't imagine how tough this is for you, but I hope you find peace with knowing that he's happy with his new owner.
