*my gcc is getting stroppy*!

Postby smoura123 » Sun Jan 09, 2011 11:12 pm

hi
my gcc is doing some really weird things
whenever i introduce him to new people he just bites their finger and wont let go.- my sisters friend met him for the first time and milo (my gcc) bit her on her finger and actually drew blood!
i had some family over today as well and milo flew to my auntie, started exploring her sunglasses which were on her head, and then he bit her ear.
we've found that at certain times he can be soooo cuddly and cute and just sits on your shoulder when you get him out and when hes in his cage he will come up the the side of the cage so we can touch him, but other days when we go near the cage he makes weird noises and starts jerking his head around and flapping his wings..and then when we get him out when hes like that (which my sister did very stupidly today) he just gos around biting everyone-apart from me.
why is he doing this and how can i stop him?
thanks!

Sorry to hear about that! He's bonded to you, and he probably see's everyone as a threat. I don't really have much of a problem with this, as most of my family members will only enjoy my birds from a "safe distance". I'm sure Michael has an article on this kind of aggression on his website www.trainedparrot.com

Scooter is approaching 2 and is going through a phase like this. I think age and impending Spring are to blame. He's getting all pissy at my husband and on a couple of occasions he's bitten ME when Bill approached. He definitely gets that fluffed up "loaded and ready" look when I approach Bill with him. I'm hoping it dies down on its own. He's fine with Bill when I'm not around, it definitely seems like a form of declaring me his territory and defending it.

Unlilke Scotty, he's shown no overt sexual behavior towards me. Doesn't regurgitate. Just likes my company...

Einstein is actually great with people when I'm not around. The bird-sitter, who he had never met before, took him out of his cage and cuddled with him, and let him fly around without any problems. He doesn't really get aggressive when other people are with me when I interact with him, he just hides behind my head.
