BUDGIES+CLIPPED FEATHERS=???

I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO TAKE MY BUDGIE OUT WITH ME BUT I 'M TOO AFRAID I MIGHT LOSE IT..(I 'VE ALREADY LOST THREE BUDGIES.MY FIRST GOT AWAY BECAUSE HE WAS SCARED OF A SOUND AND COULD NOT FIND HIS CAGE AND THE OTHER TWO ESCAPED THEIR CAGE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T BOND WE ME...)A FRIEND TOLD ME TO CLIP ITS FEATHERS BUT I DON'T THINK THAT THIS A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE BUDGIES ARE TO SMALL AND THEY DO NOT FACE THE SAME INDOOR DANGERS AS THE BIGGER BIRDS(FOR EXAMPLE THEY CAN FLY AROUND THE HOUSE EASIER THEN A COCKATOO OR A MACAW).WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THIS?

I KNOW THAT THEY WILL GROW BACK AND HOW TO CLIP THEM BUT I DON'T REALLY LIKE THE IDEA OF A BIRD THAT CANNOT FLY AS HIGH AS IT LIKES TO...

Hi, I have two advices.

1.Please keep your windows/doors closed when the bird is out!!!!
2.There is nothing wrong with clipping a budgie's wings. They can still glide to the floor when done correctly. My old budgie was clipped and could fly but only on a downward angle.

I'm very sorry for your loss, but it is your responsibility to keep your birds safe and alive, and clipping sounds like a good idea in your case.

I know that since I own a bird I am responsible for its life and I try my best...those budgies where new to me and their cage was on my balcony thats how they escaped and my first budgie was really close to me and I might loosen up a litle...but now I learned my lesson and I am very protective with my bird...

May I ask why the cage was on the balcony? Maybe it was a warm afternoon? Budgies can get sick easily from wind and cold temperatures as they are from the warm areas of Australia. Please keep this one caged indoors

it was summer and the balcony had a really nice shade...i know that parrots are tropical birds! i didn't buy my first budgie without doing some research first...you see i live in greece so the climate here maybe isn't like australia or nothern africa but it is realy warm...

i wouldn't recomend taking a budgie outside on you;re shoulder even if he/she is clipped. they are so light a little wind will give it enough to fly away. if you want them out during the day INSIDE! shut the windows and doors.....

i know that if they catch a gust of wind they can fly away...i don ,t want to take it shopping with me...i just want to take it to the country side(a controlled area...i don't want any falcon attackin' my budgie)...i thought a harness would be a solution but they don't make them for budgies...

Have you considered a travel cage? He would be safe in the confines of a cage, yet he would still be able to experience the outdoors.
