Going in and out of the nest

Postby demeries » Thu Apr 21, 2011 7:49 am

HI
I have a pair of red rumps. Sometimes the female enters the nest witout the male. But she dont stay there the whole day. The last time i looked in the nest there were no eggs. could this be that she is soon going to produce eggs i even seen the male feeding the female. When the female is in the nest the male stays outside singing.
Thank's for any suggetions

Yes. I have seen my males stand wth their heads in the nest box singing to their females. Since I have never laid an egg I'm not sure, but passing an egg that size has to be like labor pains.

Our first female and no male wanted comforted while she was trying to lay an egg. She would call the nearest person and we would sit and talk to comfort her. She laid 12 eggs that January.
