Rainbow, Myrtle & Cockatiels

Mine are eating their dinner at 3:30 pm and, if it's a gray day, I even have to make it a bit earlier.

What is your light schedule? It has been dark at 6 pm.

[Pajarita]

I turn off the lights at 3 pm and serve dinner at 3:30.

[liz]

I will change my light schedule. They seem to know that it is winter and start calling me at 3:30.

[liz]

Myrtle has learned from Rainbow many words and phrases. She seems to understand what she is saying. Yesterday she made her own sentence. While on my shoulder she said "tickle the pretty bird". She still likes me to tickle the bottom of her feet which was our first physical contact.

Yes, mine do that too and I am always amazed that they can put together phrases like that!

The first week I had Rainbow, I was calling my dog, Lola, in the house. She helped me call "Lola" for a while. When I gave up he looked into my face and said "Lola not com'ere. I was shocked. I always thought they were mimics.

He also yelled for help when my aunt was the only one home. She ran to him to find a strange cat under the table he was on. As she chased the cat around the table he yelled "catch him put him out" until she could get the cat to go back through the dog door.

Rainbow gave us a crash course in Rainbow.

Amazingly smart!

I let Rainbow and Myrtle pick their own pistachio out of the jar first thing every morning. Rainbow chooses his nut. Myrtle has been digging around in the jar and sometimes comes up with a pistachio that is already out of the shell.

I tell you, amazons are terribly lazy things! If it was up to them, they would rather not move from a perch!
