I had so much fun with my cockatiels yesterday. I don't shower them every day but in my defense I don't get a shower every day. It was hilarious to watch. Phoenix spotted the sprayer first and came running. When he got sprayed the rest mobbed in. They looked like a bunch of chickens who were just given scratch. They were flipping around to get as much water as they could. Flutter (my wild child) did not participate but Tweet (my Road Runner) managed to get in close enough to get the overspray. They were so close together it looked like a feather convulsion. My four oldies, Shadow, Tammy, Tommy and Maggie were not afraid of being touched. They were more like annoyed that I was bothering their shower. Those who have bonded with me, like Phoenix, Lola, Jackie and Cagney treated me like their best friend. The untouchables were touchable and did not seem to mind as long as I kept spraying.
I blocked the air conditioning from their rooms and did not realize how dry it was. I need to find my humidifier. I wonder what box it is hiding in.
Unless you have such a flock you can't even imagine what it looked like or how it felt to have contact with so many of them. Like I said, Flutter would not join in. Tweet lost the flight feathers on his right wing so he has been spooky since he cannot fly right now and still got close enough to get wet. Wings out, little butts in the air with the dancing around to soak up as much water as they could. It was bliss and I have not had that for a long time.

I changed the shower curtain liner to make sure it was clean enough and put Rambo in the tub. It looks like he is dancing when he showers with his wings up and butt aimed at the water spray. Myrtle watched but does not like the confinement of being in the tub so she waited for me to spray her.
I think Aunt Betty got jelous at how much fun I was having.

I had a good day.

Today I bathe the dogs. It is funny how they line up for their baths from smallest to largest. Last week Aunt Betty had to watch them get their baths. She just could not believe how good they were to get in line and wait there turns.

On the other hand that little horse of Rachel's made it to the top of my "sh.t list". When he follows me he steps on the back of my flip flops. Then he had the nerve to turn around because he did not get his food bowl fast enough. The top of his head only comes to my waist but I can't wait for Rachel to get back and take care of him. At 65 I fear I am not going to be fast enough going through his field to get to Jake and he will get me. Even after I give him his bowl he wants Jakes too. I know he is not that hungry. He has a beautiful pasture with plenty of fresh grass.

My posts seem to be longer in the morning before the rest of the house wakes up.

Glad you are getting to enjoy the company of these little ones. It sure takes enough time and money to get things set up for them so that you can spend some time with them and enjoy it.

[quote="liz"]I don't know what is wrong but I keep loosing my posts.

Yesterday I bought parrot seed and took out the peanuts before I gave it to them. Rambo squealed with joy and Myrtle just said "mmmmmmm". They were happy campers. The last time they had it it was free choice. How much should I feed them? I give my cockatiels 3/4 of a cup of seed for all of them an there are leftovers. Gimpy won't come out of his cage so I give him a teaspoon of seed and it seems to be enough. I leave there gloop in and they pick through it until I change it for see so they don't eat that much seed.

I get the grain in bulk from the health food store so I don't have the names on them now. Oat grout, steel cut oats, wild rice, quino, hulled sesame, hulled wheat, faro and millet are the only ones I can think of.

Due to my multiple surgeries I have what feels like a steel cable down the front of me. It is not too easy to bend so I am on the floor a lot. That little mob of cockatiels moving in on me while I was on the floor made my day and maybe even my week.

Maybe the health food store has a list with prices that you can get from them. The one up here was a bit reluctant to give me one, but I was persistent and explained that I had birds and needed the list to put together recipes for their foods so that I would know what I could get from them.

I haven't had the surgeries but I know how you feel due to my own issues. It is not every day that getting mobbed is a good thing. Glad you got to enjoy it.

Liz, parrots look and act healthy and even get normal blood work (if you do only a chem panel) until their liver is working only at 25% capacity.

I would gladly take him to a vet if he needs it but he is back to his old self today. He is equivalent to a five year old and I think he was giving me a guilt trip to get the seed he wanted.

My son was just here and tormented by Myrtle while Rambo was yelling "C'MERE CHUCK C'MERE. HURRY HURRY QUICK QUICK C'MERE".
