How much out of cage time do you generally give your bird/birds on a daily basis?

A minimum of 5 hours.

Even though they have flight cages, I think it's important for them to be able to exercise.

I have play areas for them, and they sometimes go back into their cages for a quick snack.

Thanks zazanomorem, already my mind has been put at ease! My senegal gets a bit noisy when I put him back in his cage during the day... I work from home so can have him out for at least 5 hrs a day, but as I'm a new bird owner I was almost doubting myself and thinking that I've been possibly having him out for too long. Now I'm happy that this isn't too much.

...The same as you I want him to have plenty of exercise and be able to fly around as he pleases for a good few hours every day so I'm sure everything's OK and it's just general birdy noise that we're experiencing! Since we've no previous bird experience to compare it to I thought it was worth getting some other opinions on the subject! I don't expect him to be silent all day but would hate to think I was causing him discomfort by teaching him bad habits at a young age. He wlll happily eat or drink in his cage but doesn't seem to play with his toys in there as much I'd like, he tends to just either just sit there silently or call out until it's next convenient for him to come out... perhaps he is just a little bit needy right now as he's quite young and he'll chill out and play by himself as he gets older :) I find it all too easy to be a little bit paranoid that I'm doing the wrong thing with him sometimes, keeps me on my toes I guess :senegal:

My Amazons are 24/7. Because of the Amazons the 'tiels and love birds get out once a week for 5 or 6 hours. They have each other and play together in the cage.

I have to put the Amazons in another room when the little ones are out.

Windy gets up and out as soon as I come downstairs during the day. And he stays out till bedtime unless I have to go somewhere I like him being involved in what I'm doing =)
