I have my Pois (including my Senegal) on a varied diet. It includes fresh veggies, sprouts, some fresh fruit (in lesser quantity because of the sugar). I occasionally also feed some mash, which I buy from Avian Organics. I also buy other of the items offered by Avian Organics and offer as a treat from time to time. For pellets I mostly feed Totally Organics (TOPs) and I do offer a little seed as well as a nut or two from time to time (normally varies between almonds, pistachios and pine nuts).

Zupreem "Avian Entrees" pellets. There are three kinds, with different dried fruits/vegs in each, so I rotate them and mix them up sometimes. Along with a variety of fresh food, nutri-berries, nuts and seeds. I try to keep things varied for him.

I feed my Senegal the Hagen Tropimix Low Fat Bean Mix ... as much as I have tried he won't eat any other pellets. He gets that in his cage when we are not home. His diet is supplemented with fresh vegetables, sprouted beans, organic ww/vegetable pasta, fruits, etc.

I do feed my Red Belly and Meyers the Roudybush pellets along with all the same supplements I mentioned above.

You shouldn't go for the cheapest. You should go for the most cost effective.

I'm with Michael, Roudybush. Though my guys aren't senegals, they love the stuff.

I use medium because my Cape and Senegal share them but for strictly a Senegal you can go with small and have less waste. I just got a new 25lb bag and froze all of it. Takes an entire shelf of freezer space. Last my two birds about 6-9 months with relatively efficient feeding and at least 50% making it inside of them. They charge about $10 shipping so $45 will last you over a year! That's about $4 a month on bird food, not bad huh? The rest you can share from your own food like fruits, veggies, and grains. I'd also get a seed mix for treats but a $15 retail size bag will last years strictly as treats.

I freeze the pellets in a bunch of gallon sized zip lock bags and just pull a bag as needed and use it for an entire month while storing it in a cooler near by bird cages.

Pablo's been eating Harrison's High Potency Fine Pellets for about 4 months now. She had been on a seed diet before that and was a really picky eater so I was surprised at how quickly she took to the pellets. Aside from the pellets I supplement her diet with things like nutri-berries, nuts(raw, organic and in the shell) and fresh fruits and veggies.
