Well you can tell by you sticking your hand in the cage and making it step up.if it pecks at your hand then it doesnt trust you.
Anothing is grabbing it(but not too hard to hurt the bird) and letting it lay down on it s back on your hand, if it doesnt it probaly doesnt trust you that youll catch it when it falls.
