Nervous about being a new "mommy"?

Postby paper_lantern » Sun Aug 28, 2011 9:04 pm

Well, I'm getting my new parrot in about three weeks, and I am starting to get nervous. I've decided on a male, hand-fed Princess Parrot. This will be my first parrot, I had a cockateil when I was younger, and I babysat a family members conure for a few weeks, but thats about it. I've been researching feverishly for almost two years now, and I've even subscribed to BirdTalk Magazine. But still, I'm nervous...I keep getting that nagging "what if I'm not a good mommy" feeling. What if I mess up one time and the bird ends up distrusting me or hating me?

Did anybody else feel like this before getting their first bird? :hatched:

I think we all feel like that. I know I still do, even though I have had 2 budgies for 2 years and the tiel for 3mths and gcc for 8wks. Every day I look at them to see if they are "happy"
Congrats on your new birdy and welcome to the forum
