Allopreening

Postby Cage Cleaner » Fri Sep 23, 2011 5:10 pm

This question is for multiple parrot owners:

When your birds preen each other, do they preen each others' eyelashes?

My GCC started to do so for my Sun Conure, and I'm a little worried that it might be dangerous. The Sun didn't complain, but I was definitely on edge when he started to get so close to the eye.

That is wonderful that they preen each other. My cockatiels do but my Amazon won't.
:amazon: Rambo and :amazon2: Myrtle both preen me. Myrtle does my eyelashes too.

I wouldn't worry to much. They are quite gentle with their beaks. If your birds have ever tried to groom you, they are quite carefule about what they are doing.
