acting weird

Postby coral » Wed Sep 28, 2011 3:19 pm

so my parrot came over to me today while i was laying down i started scratching his head and preening his pin feathers a little because he was itching his head earlier nothing unusual then he started like putting one foot on my hand hopping around and then climb on my hand hopped off bouncing around im wondering if this is his way of trying to mate with my hand or something or just him being a weirdo? i didnt pet his back or anything so idk

You were laying down. Either he was trying to get you to play or saw and opening to just torment you. They have strange ways of amusing themselves.

My tiels start messing around in December and nesting starts in January. Last year Tommy & Tammy surprised us on Christmas Eve with baby sounds. I don't know how they hid the nest from me.

Yes they had babies. They were two little girls.

I have been lucky that my tiels have flock management. There are 3 pairs. Even though they all nest only one pair will produce. The first baby to hatch is the winner. The others abandon their nests in perperation. When the babies come out of the nest the flock takes care of the feeding and preening.

I don't know if this is common but it is going on with mine. 2010 Shadow and Sweetie produced one baby boy. They had 2 fertile eggs but one dropped and broke before it was old enough to survive.

I try to find good homes for them. I would love to keep each one but just do not have the room. 2010s baby I named Columbus. He did not have a nest mate so he came out early. I was at a very stressed point in my life and did not have the strength to search for a home for him. I convinced a friend who owns a farm supply store that he needed a little singer to cheer up his store. 2011s girls went to the same place. I told him Columbus was lonely and needed friends.
