Mating dance i think?!

Postby mallymoments » Sun Nov 06, 2011 11:54 pm

has anyone ever witnessed a senegal female shaking her booty and holding her wings from her body in an arch and clicking and squealing and turning around in circles. My senegal has done this about 5 times this last month and each time it has been when she is on my finger and it goes on for about 20 minutes! its so cute to watch because she litterally flicks her bottom back and forth. she doesnt get aggressive but she just goes......bonkers it seems for no reason. Michael , Kathleen what do you think?

Yup. You can see Kili getting a little too excited by the end of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ql0Tcwtv-M

I think it's best avoided so when it comes to this, play time stops and bird gets put down. It may not lead to immediate aggression but it may in the long term. By over bonding to one person, the parrot is more likely to be territorial/defensive against others.

Thats exactly what Sam does. I agree with Michael that it is best avoided. Sam tries to do this often with my finace and I. He offers to mate with both of us, and he often get placed on his cage or back in his cage when he starts to display like this. He is phobic of window perches and stands and gyms. We keep touching limited to his head, but sometimes he gets all worked up anyway.
