Growing out a clip

Postby Dannynoscar » Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:56 am

So all of my parrots have come to me clipped. The thing is, Bird my IRN has had 2 molts now and his flight feathers have not grown back. I got him at 8 weeks old, and it was a VERY severe clip, very short and looked like it had bled. It is also tender, even now, althought it may just b him fearing it being touched..anyway, this molt one feather grew in, but it looks weird, and no others appeared. Did they damage it?

How long have you had Bird? Do you have pictures of what his wings used to look like and what they look like now? What do you mean by it looked like it had bled?

Malachite came to me clipped. It looked like a short clip to me. It took about six months for him to fly. He doesn't like having his wings touched but I don't touch them anyway because I've heard you are not supposed to touch their wings too much. I may be anthropomorphizing but I think the reason he doesn't want his wings touched is because they were clipped previously.

I assumed the same about the wings. Ive had him almost a year, he's 9 month old. It looked like it had bled cos there seemed to be rusty color on the end underneath his wing. Both my other birds barely even look clipped, which is how i think a clip should look.

:amazon: Rambo the pedestrian came to me without flight feathers. I have had him 10 years. The woman I got him from told me he never flies so now I know why. I have no idea what his first owner did to him. I do know that the second owner stole him from the first owner so it must have been a bad situation.

Bird is an expert climber, and his waddle is for sure very cute, i just find it a shame he might miss the ability to fly.. He seems quite happy though!

Rambo didn't know he was suppose to be able to fly. He just waddled through the house happily until Myrtle. Now I think he is jelouse that she can fly and he can't.
